The Edge of the World

ebb and flow

So... an introduction. I've never been good at introductions. How are you supposed to condense yourself into a few paragraphs? Anyway... hi, I'm Lisa, sometimes known as Napoleon, sometimes not.

I live in Kalamazoo with my husband Corey, our two cats Arukagari and Moose, and a handful of plants. I'm 26, something that still feels strange -- halfway through my 20s already? I'm generally pretty happy with life -- my relationship is good, I love my creatures, and am pursuing an area of study that I feel passionately about.

Right now my main focus is getting my degree finished. I've been going to college for about six years, but still have a bit to go because it took me awhile to decide what I wanted to do! There were (and still are) too many things that sounded interesting to me! For awhile I wanted to get a degree in sociology or comparitive religion, but once I realized that I was good at math and science (and that those other degrees were not very useful) I changed my major to biology, and my minors to chemistry and geology. I want to be a conservation ecologist when I grow up! :-) I love nature and feel strongly about habitat and species preservation, so I think it would be really personally meaningful work for me. At the very least, I'd like to do something where I can work outside for at least some of the time!

So, I can be a little moody sometimes, but I try to be an optimist. "I know not all that may be coming, but be it what it will, I'll go to it laughing." I try to live by that philosophy. I think I'm inwardly shy, but outwardly friendly. I'm open-minded, easily amused, and enjoy a good conversation.

I love cooking and good food. I love Asian, Indian, and Middle Eastern food especially! I like crafty/arty things too -- though not to eat, of course. I do a bit of painting, photography, and scrapbooking when I have the time. At least, when I'm not curled up with a book, or doing something with Corey. I've decided I have too many hobbies.

I do quite a bit of reading and video game playing too. I have lots of books - taking a quick look at my bookcase, mostly religion, fantasy, general fiction, and history. As for games I'm hooked on World of Warcraft right now - I'm Ankatra Horde-side on the Moon Guard server, come say hi. :-) I don't play as many video games as I used to though. I like the real world too much.

Other things: going for walks, playing Dance Dance Revolution or Guitar Hero (and of course WoW), going out to movies or plays, hanging out with friends, enjoying life. Someday I want to be able to travel. I need to see the world. I'm also a very spiritual person, polytheistic and mostly Hellenic in flavor.

So, that's me in a nutshell!
